Immortal Guardian was founded by Texas native Gabriel Guardian in 2008 with a mission to deliver “super metal” packed with melody and virtuosity. A rising force in the progressive/power metal scene, the band offer a unique blend of heaviness, technical proficiency, symphonic elements, and soaring vocals that make them stand out from the crowd. The current lineup consists of Carlos Zema on vocals, Gabriel Guardian on guitars/keyboards, Josh Lopez on bass, and Justin Piedimonte on drums.

Two critically acclaimed self-produced EPs were released in 2013 and 2014, building the group a loyal following, leading to touring across North America, South America, and Europe, sharing the stage with renowned metal acts such as Symphony X, Judas Priest, and Kamelot. The band’s live performances are known for their energy and dynamic stage presence, as well as their ability to showcase their individual skills as musicians.

This reputation as a thrilling live act caught the attention of M-Theory Audio, leading to the release of their full-length debut Age of Revolution in 2018. The album was met with critical acclaim and the band toured extensively, playing with fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman and Powerglove, and performing at high-profile events like ESPN’s X-Games, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and SXSW.

In 2020, the band retreated to their respective hometowns due to the pandemic, leading them to create a new thematic album titled Psychosomatic. The album was recorded remotely, with members in Las Vegas, Brazil, Montreal, and Texas, resulting in a truly multi-national effort. Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Psychosomatic captured the band’s trademark melding of melodic power metal with progressive and shred tendencies, into their signature sound: “Super Metal”.

Immortal Guardian’s latest album, Unite and Conquer, showcases a more powerful, mature, solid, and diverse sound, with heavier and groovier tracks like “Ozona”, “Echoes”, and “Southern Rain”. The album also features a guest vocal appearance from metal powerhouse Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) on the track “Roots Run Deep”, and The Agonist’s Vicky Psarakis sings a haunting duet with Carlos on “Lost In The Darkness”.

With Unite and Conquer, Immortal Guardian continue to push the boundaries of their genre and cement their place in the metal scene.
